Dr Fiona Macmillan, senior lecturer in physiotherapy at Queen Margaret University, Edinburgh, has become a principal fellow of the Higher Education Academy (HEA).

She joins a prestigious group of 500 academics in the UK and internationally, as one of 66,500 HEA fellow, who have attained the highest level of recognition by the national body which champions teaching quality.
The principal fellowship recognises commitment and contribution to education as a strategic leader.
Dr Macmillan, whose clinical background is in musculoskeletal trauma and elective orthopaedic surgery, leads across health care disciplines.
She is currently working on an initiative to enhance how international perspectives are embedded into the curriculum.
Commenting on her award, she said: ‘My principal fellowship gives me external recognition of my experience in learning and teaching.
'I hope that this will yield further opportunities to contribute to this field both within the physiotherapy profession as well as in the wider academic and clinical community.’
