Burning Question - I understand the law has changed again on TUPE – what’s happening?

The Transfer of Undertakings (Protection of Employment) Regulations (TUPE) protect employees’ terms and conditions when they transfer from one employer to another.

New TUPE regulations came into force on 31 January in England, Scotland and Wales.

These weaken protection for employees in a range of situations, such as redundancy and changing the location of work.

In addition, terms that were negotiated through collective agreement (in partnership with unions) can be changed after one year with the new employer. TUPE is an extremely complex area.
