Local teams of staff
The CSP has teams working across the UK. By employing these staff to focus on each region of England, as well as the devolved nations, the CSP can support members with issues that matter in their locality.
Whether you want to stop the closure of a treasured resource, you are worried about particular problems in your NHS trust or board, or you would like guidance about how to influence the commissioners in your healthcare system, we are here to offer advice and practical help.
Each local team includes staff in the following roles:
Professional adviser
Professional advisers are registered physiotherapists who bring a wealth of experience and skill in many areas, including physiotherapy practice, workforce development and transformation. Advisers work with systems and services to understand regional needs, and share good practice to support local health and care service delivery. This also informs CSP national campaigns and other areas of work. They support and connect their regional members, both directly and through collaboration with others, including stewards and CSP regional networks.
Senior negotiating officer
Our senior negotiating officers (SNOs) support and empower members in the absence of a local rep. SNOs organise and support the steward and safety representative networks and equality reps, including delivering regional-based training. They represent the CSP on country representative structures and regional partnership forums in England, collaborate with other trade unions in their region and help grow the profession.
Organiser
Working with CSP senior negotiating officers, other CSP localism staff and local reps, organisers seek to activate members to collectively address workplace issues that matter to them. They also help recruit, develop and support reps and strengthen the local CSP team in the workplace in tandem with SNOs.
Campaigns and regional engagement officer
Our CRE officers raise the profile of physiotherapy across all part of the UK by planning and implementing CSP communication projects. They also support members to develop campaigns and communications to respond to regional or local issues.
Public affairs and policy manager (in Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales)
Work with governments and policymakers in the devolved nations. Public affairs and policy managers monitor the effect of public policy changes on physiotherapy.
Engagement support officer (Scotland)
Work with staff to support engagement with members and external stakeholders.
Member-led regional networks and country boards
The CSP supports 10 regional networks in England, which cover the same geographical areas as the local teams. These networks are managed by volunteer CSP members who organise events and opportunities to connect with other physios near you.
In Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales, there are CSP country boards. The boards are also managed by volunteer CSP members. They exist to support the interests of the membership in their respective countries. This includes engaging with members and influencing policymakers and stakeholders on their behalf.
