CSP organiser Alice Spilsbury challenges members who have already voted in our NHS pay consultations in England & Wales to help spread the word, and get as many members as possible to have their say before 9 September
The CSP is moving to an Industrial Action ballot in Scotland. Due to open in October, our elected Council will recommend members vote YES to take industrial action, to reject the Scottish government’s NHS pay offer of 5 per cent, which is already higher than the award in England and Wales for many of our members in higher bands.
Council was only able to take decisive action in Scotland due to a high member turnout in our earlier, informal consultative survey. Over 60 per cent of our members voted in this ‘indicative vote’. 90 per cent rejected the offer, with 80 per cent saying they were willing to take industrial action.
Our consultations in England and Wales are due to close 9 September, and Council needs to have at least a similar level of response to gauge the strength of members’ feelings, before deciding what next steps are possible.
Every vote counts
Our member-led Pay Sub-Group is recommending members reject the NHS pay awards for England and Wales, but we need to know the views of all our NHS employed members.
If you haven’t yet voted, VOTE before September 9.
Search your inbox for an invite with the subject line containing ‘consultative vote’. Contact us if you work in the NHS and have not received a vote or are having trouble accessing the vote
Check your membership details:
We also need all members to check their member profile and ensure their employer and workplace details are correct.
- Further guidance on updating your membership profile details.
Once you have voted, we need each and every one of you to share the message far and wide to members in the NHS to vote in the consultative vote.
We challenge you to get 5 NHS members to vote. Once you have got somebody to vote, challenge them to get 5 others to vote.
You can do this by:
- Encouraging every member you know to participate in the consultative vote. Each member should have received an email to their email address listed on their CSP profile. If they haven’t, they should contact enquiries@csp.org.uk
- Sharing the message to vote through your workplace bulletins and newsletters where appropriate. Encourage members to share the message. Share via your WhatsApp groups, Facebook groups, TikTok and Instagram.
- Talking your physiotherapy social groups. Lots of you will still be in contact with people you trained with…. Ask them if they have voted on the award!
