Supported by the trust, the workplace event was a success with at least four part-time support workers committing to joining the CSP and a number of existing members coming along to say hello.

The workplace activity comes ahead of TUC’s HeartUnions week starting Monday, 10 February.

Events will be happening across the country in different sectors to celebrate and promote union membership and engagement.

CSP senior negotiating officer Penny Bromley attended to support local stewards Michelle and Hayley on the CSP stall.

Penny said: 'It was a great day. As well as securing commitment from a number of members of staff to join the CSP, it offered the chance to highlight what the stewards are doing and to outline how members can access help form their safety reps.

'This was a joint union, partnership effort: the day was organised by union colleagues in staff side and we were very pleased that the CEO attended to show his support.'

CSP organisers Sian Caulfield and Kevin Dale have been working with local reps and other health unions to organise a number of events in hospitals and other healthcare settings in England and Wales.

Kevin says: 'I encourage all CSP members to join in any local heart union events and show your support to your local CSP reps who support you with problems at work all year round.

Ask you steward if anything is going on, and offer to help organise it. When we play as a team the CSP is strongest.

Sian adds: 'HeartUnions is a fabulous opportunity to share positive stories about how CSP members can work together to progress issues at work, and encourage non-members to join the CSP.'

Local CSP members should contact / look out for details from their steward.

Here are the details of the events Sian and Kevin are attending:

12 February - workplace meetings at various sites across Powys Health Board- Brecon (10am), Llandrindod Wells (12:45pm) and Newtown (2:45pm)
