The Fit in 50 booklet focuses on improving the lifestyles of sedentary workers through simple office-based exercises performed hourly and set out in a 14-day plan.

‘In the 10 years I have been working in the NHS, I have seen the health of staff and patients health decline as people are leading more sedentary lifestyles,’ said Mr Packham, who works at the George Eliot Hospital in Nuneaton, Warwickshire.

With his colleague in IT, Dan Gunning, who had originally approached Mr Packham for exercise advice, they self-published the 32-page booklet with the aim of selling it to NHS organisations and companies.

‘In January, I released my wellbeing booklet and this has been successfully rolled out to employees within several NHS trusts and Volvo Group UK.’

Following the publication, Mr Packham has been approached by NHS Employers to write a monthly blog on his wellbeing initiatives.
