New network will help members develop first contact physio roles in general practice

A UK-wide primary care transformation network has been set up for CSP members interested in introducing first contact physiotherapy roles in general practice.

The network, funded by the CSP Charitable Trust, will enable members to collaborate, share and learn from each other. Members can contact the network by emailing paservice@csp.org.uk

Sustained work by the CSP has resulted in all four UK governments agreeing physiotherapy should have an expanded role in primary care, specifically the development of first contact physiotherapy roles in general practice, said CSP policy manager Rachel Newton.

'For example in Scotland, the potential of first contact physiotherapy roles were high profile in the coverage of the new GP contract,' she said.

'And in Wales the CSP is centrally involved in the Welsh government’s Train.Work.Live campaign to get more healthcare professionals in primary care.'
