The CSP was proud to represent the physio profession at this year’s NHS Confed Expo, and champion the importance of rehab and the workforce needed to provide it.
The event, which took place on 14-15 June in Manchester, saw NHS leaders from across the UK come together to discuss the big challenges facing the NHS.
The CSP sought to engage with key decision makers regarding the physio workforce, highlighting its recent rehab space survey as well as the Community Rehabilitation Best Practice standards and its Easing the Pain report on health inequities.
The insight CSP staff brought to these areas was well received, with the National Director of Intermediate Care and Rehabilitation, Jenny Keane taking time after speaking at the event, to visit the CSP’s stand and hear about its work.
Ms Keane also watched the CSP’s 360degree VR video, which detailed one person’s powerful journey about the impact not receiving rehab can have on their life.

Vital to engage
Abi Henderson, the CSP’s head of practice improvement, was at the conference. She said:
It was great to be at the NHS Confed Expo and to speak directly to some of those making the big decisions on the NHS’s future
'It is vital that the CSP engages in events like this to champion the profession and be part of the discussions around the future of the health service.
'We had comments from some other professions and AHP leaders on how good it was to see us representing physiotherapy profession. I was also impressed by the leadership space so many members were occupying across the breadth of the profession, especially in digital and product innovation.'
The CSP also took the opportunity to discuss with delegates its role in co-chairing and co-convening the Community Rehabilitation Alliance, which has played a vital role in the development of the rehab standards.
