CSP members invited to PACE themselves in rehab audit

The CSP is asking members to contribute to a snapshot audit, PACE (physiotherapy after Covid evaluation), aimed at building a picture of the rehabilitation needs of people with Covid-19, who are currently known to community physiotherapy services.

Over a three-week period starting on 13 July, members will be invited to provide information about patients recovering from Covid-19, through an online survey.

And, once the audit is complete, they will be able to view this data - at national and English regional level - to understand the additional demand on the service in  delivery and support local influencing.

Ruth ten Hove, CSP assistant director practice and development, said, ‘We’re encouraging all members who work outside a hospital setting to take part in the audit.

At the moment there is no data about the longer term needs of people who have had Covid–19. Between us, we can start to see what the impact of Covid-19 has been on services and where rehab demand is likely to be.

This a rapid and pragmatic audit – a snapshot – to give us an idea of what physiotherapy needs might be.

'We recognise that quality community rehabilitation requires a multidisciplinary approach but we urgently need to understand the impact of Covid-19 on CSP members as a starting point.’

Taking part in PACE is simple. Members will be sent a link to the survey, and complete a two-minute dataset for each patient recovering from Covid-19.

Ms ten Hove said: ‘For us all to understand the longer term impact on physiotherapy services, we really do need your input.

The survey is quick and simple, and you will be able to see the results and use them for your own planning and local influencing. Get involved and get your colleagues and peers involved – be a PACE setter!’
