Physiotherapists are being encouraged to apply for the first national training programme for clinical entrepreneurs created by NHS England and Health Education England.
The programme aims to provide opportunities for allied health professionals to develop their entrepreneurial skills.
Successful applicants to the funded programme will have access to industry placements, mentoring and coaching, business development and procurement knowledge.
CSP member Amanda Buttery, programme manager of the Eastern Academic Health Science Network, said: ‘This is a great opportunity for physiotherapists to turn their ideas into products that can improve health.
‘Physiotherapists understand how novel ideas, products, services or care pathways need to be both usable and desirable for them to be adopted.’
Applications to the programme are open until 31 March, with interviews in Leeds and London during May and June.
Dr Buttery added that physiotherapists could also network with like-minded clinicians who share an interest in entrepreneurship and innovation at events.
‘For instance, one event coming up is the clinical entrepreneur forum on 16 March in east England. This free event will give delegates an opportunity to hear from experienced speakers from the NHS and other sectors who will share their knowledge and tips about how you can develop your ideas.’
