CSP launches survey to identify physiotherapy research priorities

Physiotherapy staff and members of the public can voice their views by taking part in the second round of the Physiotherapy Priority Setting Partnership (PSP) survey.

Run in collaboration with non-profit organisation the James Lind Alliance, the PSP project aims to bring patients, carers and clinicians together to identify important research questions.

The first round of the survey, held earlier this year, resulted in 2,151 suggested research questions. These submissions have now been analysed by the society and developed into 65 broad questions, based on all the collected feedback.

CSP research adviser Gabrielle Rankin told Frontline: ‘In the second survey we are asking physiotherapists, patients, carers and members of the public to choose their top 10 questions.

‘We want to get as wide a perspective as possible about what people think are the priorities for physiotherapy research.

‘The 65 questions in the survey are really interesting and apply to all areas of physiotherapy, so I would encourage members to choose their top 10 and also to promote the survey to their patients. Everyone’s choices will be taken into account to produce a short list of questions.’

The survey is open until 18 December and the CSP will announce the 10 priorities identified by the project early next year.
