Physiotherapist Chris Barnes, a member of the community integrated therapies team at Clitheroe Community Hospital, said he was ‘thrilled’ to receive an award for compassionate care.
Chris Barnes provides assessments and treatment to people at home and at a local rehab centre
He was voted top in East Lancashire Hospitals NHS Trust’s annual Star Awards, in a category which recognises frontline staff for their compassionate care of patients and their families.
‘I’m now even more enthusiastic about delivering excellent compassionate care, because I’ve learned that doing a small thing for one person may not change the world but it could change the world for one person,’ said Mr Barnes.
His role involves providing therapy assessment and treatment to people at home, as well as physiotherapy services at a local residential rehabilitation centre where people stay for up to six weeks for intermediate care.
