CSP chief joins health honours committee

Karen Middleton has been appointed to the health honours committee

The CSP chief executive will join five other independent members of the health honours committee in considering whether individuals deserve recognition for their outstanding achievements or contributions to health.

Ms Middleton received a CBE in 2012 for services to healthcare. She said: ‘I applied for the position because I wanted to ensure more diversity in who the health national honours are awarded to.

‘I am keen to ensure a wide range of clinicians are nominated, so I will use my new role to promote national awards and encourage people to get nominating, wherever I go.

‘Anyone can nominate anyone for a national honour at any time.’

Honours are given to people involved in a range of fields which, in addition to health, include voluntary and local services, the arts, sport, science and education.
