Members are innovating across their practice and Helen Harte wants to help you share your findings
In my role at CSP, I am fortunate enough to talk to members at all levels and from across the breadth of our profession. I listen to members talk with passion about professional issues, life in practice and the transformative role of physiotherapy.
What I hear is members innovating in practice, finding solutions, implementing new technologies and improving services for our populations.
Yet when I suggest writing up this work to share with others, I am often met with the same hesitant and nervous responses:
My project wasn’t big enough to interest other people. Is what we’ve done THAT innovative? Oh, it’s not real research.
Recently I have been working with the Innovations in Physiotherapy database team. The database, which is a CSP member benefit, is a searchable collection of quality assured initiatives from across the UK. It is a space for members to share their own work, or to find examples of other innovative projects and upscale those ideas for local improvement.
In November 2021, we launched a new iCSP Innovations network to support members to gain the knowledge, skills and confidence to take that next step into writing up their projects.
I want the network to enable people to consider submitting to the database. For many this might be the first step in amplifying their work to the audience of other members.
Our collective ambition is to create a stimulating community of practice that supports members to design and report on innovations and improvements that champion physiotherapy and ultimately, improve patient care.
So if you are working to make changes to your service, we want to hear about it at Innovations on the CSP website.
