The CSP office will be closed between Christmas and New Year (25 December-2 January).  If you need urgent advice during this period visit "Advice for members during the holiday closure"

Editor's comment: a warm welcome

There’s something about this time of year that says ‘new start’.

I think it’s linked to all those years at school or college when the onset of September signalled another opportunity to begin again, turn the page and perhaps ‘try harder’.

This issue of Frontline will be distributed to every student starting a physiotherapy degree in the coming weeks. To all of you, we say welcome to your magazine. As every member of a physiotherapy team that offers practice placements knows, the commitment and enthusiasm shown by students is both stimulating and reassuring.

As CSP chief executive Karen Middleton says in her In person column, it’s good to know that ‘new blood’ is entering the profession and that its future is in such safe and enthusiastic hands.

Still on a student theme, you can find out what tips third-year Cardiff University student Luke Tobin offers his peers on displaying leadership. And fresh from winning three medals, including a gold, at this summer’s World Para Athletics Championships, student Kadeena Cox describes how she juggles an arduous athletics regime with her studies at Manchester Metropolitan University.

We hope you enjoy your copy of Frontline.
