Editor's comment: use your vote

Frontline's editor encourages you to use our vote to support the profession on the politcal agenda.

A week, as they say, is a long time in politics. By the time you read this, the European Union (EU) debate may well be receiving a lot less airtime and media coverage than when we went to press.

But the elections in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland – along with London and a third of district councils in England – are just around the corner. And then there’ll be the Euro referendum to think about.

‘What’s this got to do with the CSP?’ I hear you ask. For the profession, it’s an opportunity to engage with candidates on the healthcare and employment issues that should be prominent politically.

In this issue of Frontline you can pull out and keep our ‘doorstep challenge’ – questions to ask in the elections that are taking place where you live (page 34).

We offer questions to ask candidates on access to rehab, physiotherapy provision in GP surgeries, and the shortage of physiotherapy staff.

As for the EU debate, find out on page 30 what the referendum result in June might mean for you and your patients.

While the CSP would not suggest how you might vote, we do want to ensure you’re informed about the debate.

And as individual CSP members, you can play your part in the discussions over the coming months to put your profession on the political agenda.
