Whether in London, Glasgow or Belfast, the CSP will be marching. We hope for a big turnout from CSP members – and your colleagues, friends and families.

The ‘Britain needs a pay rise’ event in London on 18 October will send a loud message to all politicians and decision-makers that it’s time to get serious about tackling living standards. This is the only way to achieve a sustainable recovery for all and will underpin the quality services CSP members strive to deliver.
We’ll be joining in, with our banners, our flags and our giant balloons in London (simultaneous events are being held in Glasgow and Belfast). We hope as many of you as possible will be marching alongside us, so that together we can make a really big noise no-one will be able to ignore!
Here’s some key information for the day:
LONDON
Where and when: Look out for CSP flags, banner and giant balloons on Victoria Embankment. We will assemble at 11am and move off in the direction of Hyde Park at midday. Alternatively, get down to CSP headquarters where we will meet at 10am and head down to the Embankment at 10.45.
The march: After moving off, the march will go along Victoria Embankment to Northumberland Avenue, across Trafalgar Square, along Regent Street to Piccadilly Circus, and then along Piccadilly to Hyde Park Corner, where it will enter the park.
The rally in Hyde Park will start as the march reaches the stage. There will be a short march route for those who don’t want to follow the whole route, starting in St James’s Street, off Piccadilly.
The rally: There will be a range of speakers, including frontline public service workers, people who are on the receiving end of austerity cuts to welfare and public services, trade unionists and other campaigners.

GLASGOW
Unions in Scotland are also planning an event on 18 October. It’s titled ‘A just Scotland’. Marchers assemble at 10am in Glasgow Green and set off at 10.30am for a rally in George Square.
The Scottish TUC (STUC) says the aim is to highlight the need to ‘create decent work’ and ‘provide dignity for those who cannot work’ as central planks in the ‘battle against austerity and tackling inequality’.
The STUC adds: ‘Bring your friends and families, bring your work mates, bring your banners’. If you live in Scotland or neighbouring English regions, such as the north east, the CSP hopes to see you there.
BELFAST
The Northern Ireland will call for improved living standards and a fairer, more just society. Register with us at and we’ll send more info as soon as we get it.
